Bob Parks to be Honored
Congratulations to Bob Parks, the founder and owner of the company I work at. He is being recognized as the Humanitarian of the Year by the YMCA. We really do work hard as a company to make contributions back to uor community. We give to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, Make-A-Wish, and more. Several years ago, when agents approached Bob about what he wanted for Christmas, his reply was to donate money so a child could have a good Christmas. Years later, thousands of children have received new clothes and toys under their tree because of Bob. So thank you Bob Parks for your support and compassion throughout the years. It's an honor to work at your company.
Remodelers moving to West (East) Nashville
For a long time, according to the Tennessean, people bought homes in East Nashville so they could be remodeled and resold at a huge profit. However, the trend is turning and now homes in West (East) Nashville are under the looking glass.
Read about the trend at the Tennessean.
NOTE: I edited this adding West (East) Nashville because it's the East end folks like, but the west end of east end. :) Thanks John!

Time of Year for Fireplace Maintenance
As cold weather settles in, it's the time of year to perform maintenance on your fireplace. Chimney fires occur when heat combusts flammable material (residue from fires) on the chimney wall, so get your chimney inspected and cleaned!
If there is a fire,
here's a guide about how to detect it and what to do (after calling 911) from the Hearth, Patio & Barbeque Association.
Nashville and Rutherford Numbers Differ
The Tennessean reported this afternoon that the
housing market in Nashville improved in October, thanks to sales in condominiums. Condo sales were up 44% from this time last year. Last month, 3331 homes were closed in Nashville.
A quick study of the Rutherford market revealed that 503 homes were sold in October throughout the county. In October 2005, 556 homes closed. This means home sales were down a little more than 9% from this time last year.
By comparison, in October 2005 only 32 condos sold in Rutherford County. In October 2006, 19 condos sold. This is nearly a 60% drop in condo sales - a sharp difference between Nashville and Rutherford County.
Builder Incentives in Mid Tenn
During the office sales meeting this morning, one of our agents announced the incentives currently being offered on one home by a local builder. He is giving $10,000 to the buyer - whether closing costs, appliance upgrades, furniture, etc. He is also offering ...
are you sitting??? ....
a red 1956 Studebaker.
I have no idea if the one being offered looks anything like this one, but here it is anyway.
Anyone want to tour a nice home with me?
Applications for Loans Decline
The number of people applying for home mortgages has declined, according to MSNBC. This provides a bigger picture of how many people are currently buying, not just a snapshot of new construction.
Read the article here. This really is a good time to buy ... sellers are selling their homes at more reasonable prices rather than attempting to inflate prices like from the housing "boom" from this past summer and year. Go get you some! :)
And by the way, remember that buyers can't pay too much -- that's a very positive function of hiring an appraiser!
